Dolphin Encounters

The trouble we encountered with dolphins eating your catch while fishing in the Cayo Casta area. Dolphins are highly intelligent and curious creatures that are attracted to fishing activities and fish in the water. While frustrating, it's important to remember that dolphins are protected marine mammals and pursue fish’s natural behavior. To mitigate this issue and increase your chances of successfully landing your catch, here are a few suggestions: 1. Change fishing location: Dolphins are known to frequent certain areas, so try moving to a different spot where their presence may be less common. 2. Use deterrent devices: Commercial deterrent devices are available, such as underwater noisemakers or electronic repellents, that emit sounds dolphins find unpleasant. These devices may help deter them from approaching your fishing area. 3. Stay vigilant: Keep a close eye on your fishing lines and immediately reel them in as soon as you notice dolphins approaching. Minimizing the time your catch spends in the water can reduce the chances of dolphins intercepting it. It's important to note that dolphins are protected species, and it is illegal to harm or harass them. While it can be challenging to fish in areas with high dolphin activity, respecting and coexisting with these beautiful creatures is essential. Enjoying nature's wonders while minimizing any negative impact is the best approach.
